Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors is offering a new Surf Kayaking outing. Participants will get the opportunity to kayak through the Marina del Rey harbor and head out to the North Jetty, where they will surf the waves aboard sit-on-top kayaks. Los Angeles County Lifeguards will instruct the outing. This experience is both PHYSICAL and fun.
The following is a list of recommended items you should bring for the Surf Kayaking outing: drinking water, hat, snack, sunscreen and appropriate attire, e.g. shorts, t-shirt or wetsuit, depending on weather. We recommend that you place sunscreen in a ziplock bag. While on the kayak, you will be sitting on some water, so be prepared to get wet. Bring extra clothing.
Pre-registration is a must! You must be recommended by one of the instructors to register for Surf Kayaking or contact the Recreation Services Supervisor for approval.
Call (310) 822-8530 to register or for additional information. Class size is limited to 15 participants.
